mary poppins

in the clip mary poppins brought the children to uncle albert's house. uncle ablbert, who loves to laugh, has lost control and is floating in the air laughing. shortly after uncle albert has caused the guy and the 2 children to join him in his floating laughter. while they are floating they have this "intoxication" of language, where for some reason they start to make more sense. mary poppins, who is always very proper and controlled when it comes her language, decides to join in on the "game" when she said "if i must, i must" this isn't the best of language because what she has to do is unclear. yet it makes since showing that she basically has to do what ever the thing was. in the clip the thing that she "must" do was to pour the tea for their tea time.
"when it came on me how sweet it had been" this is saying that the writer is realizing how good something is after it is gone. in language this usually happens when someone is talking. they say something that they really like but with out writing it down it will be gone and all that will be left is the thought of how good it was. "then the act of reasching down with the idea i would get it back" he is saying that sometimes writers try and remember what they said with the hope of getting it back. unfortunately like his drink, it is gone forever
